Travel Tips for Necklaces

When you're getting ready to go away, whether it's a family reunion, a business trip or a leisurely vacation to a far-off place, you'll want to make sure that you take extra care in packing your valuables and accessories. This is also the case for when you are packing up and moving from one address to another. Items like necklaces need special attention to make sure that they arrive at their destination in tact and ready to be worn.

Have you ever opened up your travel case to find your necklaces are tangled in a bejeweled web? This is a common problem that many female travelers face. But there are a few solutions to help you keep your sanity during a travel expedition or a major move.

Try wrapping necklaces individually. Make sure necklaces are fastened and lay them out on a sheet of tissue paper or on a paper towel. Wrap securely and stack snugly so that they cannot move around. This will prevent your necklaces from scratching each other. It will also help to prevent tangles. Although this may seem time consuming now, it will save you the effort of having to untangle a jumbled mess at a later time.

Use a plastic container with small compartments. Pick up a partitioned plastic container at any drug store, hobby store or container store. You'll be able to drop one necklace into each compartment. For added security, wind necklaces around your finger or wrist, depending on the length, and secure with a twist-tie before placing in it's own compartment. This will help prevent the chains from tangling.

Use a soft jewelry case – For women on the go, soft jewelry rolls made are fabric are ideal for packing a few necklaces at a time. Simply unsnap, place necklace on the fob and re-snap. Then roll and you're ready to go. If you're only taking a few necklaces, space them out so they avoid contact with each other.
