Cooking a spectacular Spiral Sliced Ham :
- Serve at room temperature if desired. Great with or without the glaze.
- Bring to room temperature before heating
- Remove plastic, netting and bone guard before heating
- Cut the meat around the bone for easy removal
- Save the bone for great dishes like Spiral Ham and Beans
- You can also freeze the bone to save for later
- You can refreeze your ham – remove from the bone and put in a freezer bag.
Leftover ideas:
- Cut into scrambled eggs
- Make ham & potato hash
- Great addition to green beans
- Perfect for ham salad
Maple Bourbon Ham Glaze
Ingredients:
- 1 cup maple syrup
- 1 cup bourbon whiskey
- 2 cups apple juice
- 1 tsp. rubbed sage
- 1 pinch grated nutmeg
- Salt and pepper
Directions: Reduce apple juice and bourbon by half and add syrup. Reduce by one third. Add nutmeg and sage season with salt and pepper. Glaze Spiral Sliced Ham once before cooking, once during cooking and again when removed from the oven.
For a memorable prime rib:
- Thaw completely in refrigerator
- Let it come to room temp before cooking
- Do Not Remove Netting before cooking
- Cover with a foil tent after removing from oven
- Allow to rest 15 min after cooking
- Remove net before cutting.
- For easy removal of the net use kitchen shears
- A great dipping sauce for prime rib is horseradish and sour cream.
- Left-over meal ideas:
- Add BBQ sauce for chopped beef sandwiches
- Prime rib hash
- Steak Subs
- Prime Rib Roast (in the oven)
Ingredients:
Kansas City Steak Prime Rib Roast
Directions: Place meat, fat side up, on rack in a shallow roasting pan. Season with Kansas City Steak Company Steak and Prime Rib Seasoning (included in your order). Rub evenly over surface of netted roast. Do not add water or cover.
Roast in 375 degree oven until meat thermometer registers 135 degrees (approximately 1 to 1 ½ hours) for medium-rare or 145 degrees (approximately 1 ½ to 2 hours) for medium. Cover roast with aluminum foil tent and allow to stand 15 to 20 minutes. Remove netting and trim excess fat before carving.
